Nettles who's songwriting style is lyrical as well as artistically expressive, is joined by the charismatic and skilled backing band. A drummer Brad Sikes puts forth the band's constantly changing and varied beats. Scott Nicholson brings to life the magic of the piano's keyboards with ebony and ivory-infused passages. Wesley Lupold, on bass, lays out the basic chords of the song. Mike Cebulski's gift for percussion generates an array of sounds and rhythms. Nettles was featured throughout New York, Cleveland Memphis Atlanta as well as the Carolinas. Jennifer Nettles was awarded the Independent Musician of the year prize in 2001, recognizing her talent in songwriting and her growing fan base, and the people working behind the scenes who give their time to helping her to promote her music. The presentation was full of captivating songs, high-energy vocals and a poetic flair, with a rousing live setting, Jennifer Nettles and her band enjoyed a lot of success in the mid- to late 90s.
